Getting started
What is MoodyBoards?
MoodyBoards is an AI moodboard generator and creative-direction tool. You describe your brand, product, or story in plain language and it generates a moodboard that captures the visual identity — palette, typography, lighting, textures, and mood. From that board you generate images that inherit the same direction, so everything you make looks like it came from one brand.
What is an AI moodboard?
An AI moodboard is a single composite image that captures your brand's visual identity — colors, typography, lighting, and mood — generated from a text description. In MoodyBoards it is also a saved direction: the board becomes the reference every future image is generated against.
Do I need design experience to use MoodyBoards?
No. You describe what you want in plain language. The art direction — model choice, reference handling, prompt construction — is handled for you. The one decision that stays yours is the look and feel of the moodboard itself.
Do I need a credit card to try it?
No. Your first moodboard and your first image are free and no card is required to start.
How does MoodyBoards work?
Three stages. First you describe your brand, product, or story in plain language. Second, MoodyBoards generates a moodboard that sets the visual direction — palette, typography, lighting, textures, and mood. Third, you generate images from that board, and each one inherits the board's direction automatically.
Making boards & images
How does MoodyBoards keep my images on brand?
Every image you generate is conditioned on your moodboard's visual DNA. The AI reads the board's palette, lighting, textures, and aesthetic style and applies them to each new image, so consistency does not depend on you re-describing your style in every prompt.
What can I generate with MoodyBoards?
Anything visual your brand needs: product packaging, social media posts, Instagram stories, storefront and signage concepts, hero images, lifestyle photography, scenes, and film key art.
Can I upload my own logo and reference images?
Yes. You can upload a logo and reference images to keep outputs on brand. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you upload.
Can I edit an image after it is generated?
Yes. Individual images can be edited with AI after they are generated, without starting over from the board.
Do I get the palette and typography, not just pictures?
Yes. Every board comes with its palette, type pairing and mood written out as a spec, so you can carry the same direction into a site, a deck or anything else you are building outside MoodyBoards.
Can I download images at full resolution?
Yes. Full-resolution downloads are included on the paid plans.
Can I upload a moodboard I made somewhere else?
Yes, on Pro. Making moodboards from a description or from your own colors is free on every plan. Uploading a finished moodboard you made elsewhere — and generating images that match it — is the Pro part.
Is MoodyBoards just a wrapper around an AI image model?
The model is the smallest part of it. The work is everything around the model: turning a plain description into something a model can actually execute, handling how your references and colors are weighted, holding one saved direction steady across every later generation, and deciding which model does which job as new ones ship. You get the result of that work instead of doing it yourself every time.
How is this different from Midjourney, ChatGPT, or Flux?
General-purpose AI image tools require you to re-describe your brand's style in every prompt, so the burden of consistency falls on you and small wording differences produce images that don't match. MoodyBoards saves your visual direction once, and every image after that inherits it automatically.
Plans & billing
How much does MoodyBoards cost?
Free to start. Starter is $9.99 per month and Pro is $19.99 per month. No contracts, cancel anytime.
Are images on the free plan watermarked?
Yes. Images generated on the free plan carry a MoodyBoards watermark, including downloads. Upgrading to a paid plan removes the watermark — including from images you already generated.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again after that.
Do you offer refunds?
No. All payments are non-refundable, including subscription fees and credit pack purchases. Because AI output is subjective, that also covers cases where generated content does not meet your expectations — which is why the first moodboard and first image are free, so you can see the quality before paying.
Rights & your data
Can I use the generated images commercially?
Yes. Images you generate are licensed for commercial use with no attribution required — client work, marketing, packaging, social media, storefronts, and film projects. One honest caveat: under current U.S. law, AI-generated images without significant human creative input may not be eligible for copyright protection, so you cannot necessarily stop others from using a similar image.
Do you train AI models on my images or prompts?
No. We do not use your prompts, images, or personal data to train AI models. The underlying paid AI APIs we use likewise do not train on API inputs or outputs under their data usage policies.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
Deleting your account deletes your personal data and generated content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain data for legal or compliance reasons. Data already processed by third-party AI providers is subject to their retention policies. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
Support
Who is behind MoodyBoards?
MoodyBoards is made by a small independent team, led by a designer with twenty years in the field. It started as an internal tool — we needed on-brand content for our own projects and got tired of rebuilding the look every time. We still use it that way, so the things that annoy us get fixed. The full story is on our story page.
How do I get help or ask something not answered here?
